Revolution have been coming out with a whole load of new releases and have collaborated with the Youtuber Soph from Sophdoesnails for the second time. Her first collection came out last year and was an eyeshadow palette and a highlighter palette which I love.
This year she has released another eyeshadow palette called Extra Spice and three gorgeous nude lipsticks named Syrup, Fudge and Cake which retail for £4 each.
The packaging of the lipsticks match nicely to both of the eyeshadow palette, when I first saw these in my parcel I thought they looked smaller than I was expecting them to be. Engraved within the lipstick is Soph’s name which I think is a nice personal touch.
The lipsticks are a satin finish, glide on the lips and have an easy application, I didn’t find that a lip liner was needed as you can get a neat line with the lipstick itself. You can blot your lips to make the finish matte if you want to but I found after a couple of hours it looks matte anyway.
I love all of these shades but I think that Fudge is my favourite as it’s a gorgeous deep nude brown but all the shades are great for everyday use anyway. They are also cruelty free and suitable for Vegans.
Currently these are only available online!
If you love cream highlighters then the e.l.f ones are definitely worth checking out and only cost £5. These ones are part of the Beautifully Bare collection and there are three shades to choose from: Pink Pearl Glow, Champagne Glow and Fresh Morning Dew.
I was kindly sent two of the shades by Superdrug to review, although I don’t have the Fresh Morning Dew shade it is described on the e.l.f UK website as being a clear non-shimmer shade.
I love the size of these highlighter crayons as they make it so much easier to swipe across the cheekbone, they glide on with ease and do not drag across the skin. I also love the Revlon Photoready Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick if you want to check out that review.
As you can see from the swatches they are quite pigmented and that’s before blending! It is recommended you blend with your fingers rather than with a brush or sponge. I found that blending it with my fingers meant that it did not remove any of the foundation underneath.
I love the Pink Pearl shade the best and to make it pop more I like to add my favourite powder highlighters on top which are from the Soph X Makeup Revolution Highlighter Palette .
These highlighter sticks would be perfect to take away on holiday or to festivals and are super affordable, cruelty free and Vegan friendly.
I love matte liquid lipsticks so I was excited to be sent one to try out for Superdrug’s Blog Squad. The lipstick today is by e.l.f which admittedly is a brand I haven’t tried out all that much in the past. The shade I was sent is a gorgeous deep nude called Praline.
e.l.f’s packaging is pretty basic and generally the same for each item. From first impressions of the liquid lipstick I was quite surprised at how large the applicator is in comparisons to other brands.
I have found it quite hard to apply due to the size of the applicator and without a lip liner as I cant seem to get it neat around the lip line. I do absolutely love the colour though its just a shame its a bit awkward to use.
The colour is very similar to the shades in the new Revolution Nudes Collection: On Display and Stripped Liquid Lipsticks. e.l.f Praline retails for £6 whereas Revolutions retails for £3.
It is definitely not a long lasting liquid lipstick and does need touching up throughout the day but with that said I don’t think you can complain really for the price. Whilst I don’t hate the product I don’t love it either.
e.l.f makeup is cruelty free and suitable for Vegans.
