Superdrug Coconut Water Hydrate & Shine Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Today’s post focusses on yet another Superdrug product, I know I’m sorry but I really do love their own brand! Not only are they affordable but they are also cruelty free whilst being suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians.

A firm favourite of mine lately is the Coconut Water shampoo and conditioner and if you follow my blog then you’ll know I purchased the hair masque in this range quite a while ago.

Superdrug Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner

First of all this range smells amazing! It has a lovely tropical scent which isn’t overpowering. The shampoo and conditioner are recommended for normal, dry or damaged and claims to hydrate it whilst leaving hair looking all fab and shiny. My hair I’d say is normal but with dry ends and some frizz.

After using this product religiously I can tell you my hair is always left feeling incredibly soft, I would say as well that it looks shiny but it’s not overly glossy and it reduces the frizz which we all know is a massive bonus.

It’s also really easy to wash out, I know that sounds silly but some shampoos I’ve tried in the past have just felt oily and take time to remove fully. A little really does go a long way and with the bottles being 400ml each they will last a long time.

All the items in this range cost £3.99 and are currently on offer 2 for £6.

Superdrug Pick & Mix Instant Colour Sprays

Get festival ready with the Pick & Mix Instant colour sprays by Superdrug. Fancy something that lasts longer? Then why not pick a shade from the permenant and semi-permanent collection.

Superdrug Colour Sprays Pick & Mix
As part of the Superdrug Blog Squad I was kindly sent three of the sprays to test and as always an honest review will be given.

I’ll start with the my least favourite of the bunch and that is the grey colour, I really wanted to like this but on my gingery brown hair it just didn’t turn out very well.

Superdrug Pick & Mix Grey Spray
The left photo shows what it’s like with a thin layer of the product and the right is a build up of the product and as you can see from my top it goes everywhere! I feel this shade would work much better in blonde hair or in small areas of dark hair.

Superdrug Pick & Mix Blue and Purple Spray

I got on so much better with the blue and purple shade which I think look stunning when layered together, if you have long hair like me though you will need quite a few cans to cover your hair entirely.  These colours would be great for Mermaid/unicorn hair!

In order to set the colours you will need to use hairspray and to remove the colour you can brush it out or wash it away.

Please not the bright colours (blue and purple) will stain your hands but easily washes off.

There are more colours in the range and would be great for parties and festivals!

Superdrug Pick & Mix Rose Gold Hair Dye Review

Rose gold and pastel colours is a trend that’s here to stay and Superdrug has taken this on board to create a new range of hair products. The Pick & Mix features semi-permanent and permanent dyes as well as hair chalk sprays in a range of fabulous colours.

As part of a small blog squad team for Superdrug I was kindly sent the permanent Rose Gold hair dye to try out. The box colour is a beautiful ‘candy floss’ style pink which I feel if you have blonde hair then you will be able to achieve this. I had brown hair with dark blonde highlights so I didn’t really expect the colour to take to my hair and to my surprise I was left with a nice darker pink colour!

I didn’t read the box properly (rookie mistake) so I didn’t read that the dye contains hydrogen peroxide so some of my brown roots also went a pinky colour but I honestly didn’t mind this. I only used one box so if you have brown hair you can still achieve a pink look but it may take a couple of boxes to completely cover your hair.

Superdrug Pick & Mix Dye

I like this dye and I would recommend trying the range if you fancy a new hair colour, however, I did find in comparison to some other brands that this one did have a strong scent but that could have been the bleach!

A day after dying my hair it went a lighter peachy colour which was lovely and actually inspired me to try the Copper Gold colour from the collection. I’ll do another blog post for that dye but again it had peroxide in it and now my brown roots are all gone!

Unfortunately I can’t remember the exact price but it was around £3.50 and as usual with Superdrug it is 100% cruelty free and suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Superdrug Coconut Water & Coconut Oil Hair Masque

Having focused on make up posts for a while I thought I’d mix things up a little and talk about this wonderful hair masque by Superdrug. I absolutely love hair masks/masques and own various ones by Tresemme and Herbal Essences. As you know haircare comes at a cost and today’s masque comes with an affordable price tag.

The Coconut Water & Coconut Oil Masque or known on the website as “Hydrate & Shine Conditioning Masque with Coconut Water” smells amazing! The Pina Colada scent is enticing enough to buy it and it works wonders on your hair.

Superdrug Coconut Water Hair Masque

This particular own brand product is part of the more premium range in Superdrug in comparison to some of their basic/essential products. There is also has the additional shampoo and conditioner to match this range but I haven’t tried these just yet.

The masque claims to hydrate the hair and leave it shiny, like any other masque you leave it on for around 2 minutes, if you have the time you can also leave it on for 10 minutes for a more intense conditioning treatment.

Superdrug Coconut Water Masque

The product itself is not a thick consistency and works it’s way through the hair really easily with a small application going a long way.

Afterwards my hair smelt amazing and felt really soft, I cant really comment on the shine effect as I didn’t notice a massive difference but perhaps teaming it with the shampoo would have a better effect.

The Benefits:

  • £2.65 on offer (usually £3.99)
  • Cruelty Free
  • Suitable for Vegans & Vegetarians
  • Smells Amazing
  • Soft, Healthy Looking Hair
  • 200ml size (lasts 12 months from opening)

BaByliss Ombre Styler 235: Review

BaByliss Ombre Styler 235The BaByliss Ombre Styler 235 retails at £29.99 in Boots (Currently on offer) and makes the perfect replacement for my previous straighteners which have now died. The ‘styler’ as it’s called because it straightens and curls is the perfect girly accessory and comes in a lovely shade of pink-purple, it heats up to 235′ and takes up to 15 seconds to heat up. Today I will be reviewing it’s straightening performance.

BaByliss Ombre Styler

As you might be able to tell it is slightly darker than the bold image on the box but it’s still a great colour, the Styler also comes with a heat wrap so you don’t have to worry about burning any surfaces! The heat setting goes up in 2’s (2-20) rather than stating the actual heat settings so it recommends that for those with fine or coloured hair to use a low heat setting. Once you have selected your setting the red light will flash red until it has heated up fully, im not sure if it was 15 seconds but it heated up rather quick!

BaByliss Ombre Styler On

As my hair dries quite thick and wavy I opted to go for setting no.10 means it was my first time using the styler and I have to say I was very impressed with it! As I cant afford GHD’s I wanted a hair straightener that was affordable and practical and this BaByliss styler is the perfect alternative for those that cant or don’t want to opt for GHD’s.

BaByliss Ombre Styler Plates

The long slim line plates allow for larger pieces of hair to be straightened or curled so provides faster results, the hair also glides smoothly through the plates so it doesn’t have to be repeatedly straightened for good results, also no frizz which is a bonus!

BaByliss heat wrap

The heat wrap allows the styler to slip in perfectly then wraps and holds together perfectly with Velcro so you don’t have to worry about leaving them alone whilst they cool down! The styler also has a safety feature where it will automatically switch off if it has been on continuously for 72 minutes so gone are the panic days where you wonder if you did actually switch them off before leaving the house.

Hair Before and After

There’s just a quick example of the underneath of my hair before and after using the styler for the first time, im so pleased with the results and so glad I went for the BaByliss Ombre 235 over any other straighteners.

Pros

  • Price- £29.99 instead of £59.99!
  • Fast Results
  • Girly Design
  • Different Heat Settings
  • Free Heat Wrap

Cons

  • Heat settings being in 2’s instead of actual temperatures

As you can see there was only one small blip I found with the styler but I would still definitely recommend it as it’s a great purchase! You can also buy a matching hairdryer to the Ombre styler which comes with clips, curlers and a hairbrush for £23.95, I didn’t buy this due to my other BaByliss hairdryer working but it’d make a great set!
