Revolution has recently launched its Halloween 2018 collection and I for one could not wait to pick up some pieces.
Beautiful Darkness retails for £6 and features a mixture of gorgeous shimmers and mattes. Can we all take a moment to appreciate the spooky packaging?
Something ‘new’ I’ve noticed about the layout of this palette is the larger pans for the transition and matte highlighter shade which a lot of people will appreciate.
Out of 12 shades there are only 4 shimmers but they are absolutely stunning when applied with your finger, I tried with a wet brush but it didn’t pay off as nicely.
My absolute favourite shade is Dead Rose, my swatches don’t do this palette justice but it is a gorgeous Red shimmer. Poison is also a gorgeous green/brown shimmer whereas Corrupted is a beautiful gold that needs building up.
The back of the box on my palette did have a few spelling mistakes for the shade names but that isn’t really an issue for me and might have been from a bad batch but it really doesn’t effect the palette overall.
As always the shadows are pigmented, buildable and had no fallout for me.
This palette is cruelty free, Vegan friendly and currently 3 for 2 on Superdrug.
The Revolution Pro Mischief Mattes palette is packed full of colour for fun bold looks. It retails for £8 and contains 18 shades, I was kindly sent one to review for the Superdrug Blog Squad.First of all I have to admit this is not a palette I would have chosen for myself due to the bold colours and the fact it’s all mattes as I prefer warm tones and shimmer.
Some of the colours aren’t as bold as I thought they would be but they do build up nicely and blend easily. They might apply better with an eyeshadow primer as a few colours weren’t looking the best after a full day of wear.
This palette would be great for a makeup kit, festival, holiday or even for a bold everyday look. I love that the shade names are now printed on the palette, it’s also cruelty free and suitable for vegans!
Sophie from Sophdoesnails and Revolution are at it again with another exciting collaboration! If you didn’t know then Soph is a Youtuber who does loads of great testing videos, first impressions etc… of mainly drugstore makeup. I absolutely loved her first eyeshadow palette and highlighter palette so I had to buy her new collection.
The packaging is stunning and definitely stands out, the look they’ve gone for is inverted colours of the original palette which is a great idea. The back of the box also reveals the shades inside but I don’t fully trust these as the shades tend to look different anyway.
There are 18 shades this time around so slightly less than the first palette but they both retail for £10. There’s 6 gorgeous shimmer shades and 12 mattes, this palette has bolder colours than the first one and I like that the shade names are now printed on the case instead of on the plastic sheet it comes with.
I’m not the best at swatches but I’ve swatched all the colours to show what they are as the palette is only available online.
There is definitely pigment in these shadows, they are buildable and blend out easily so what more could you want from a palette? I love the shimmer shades the best and they don’t even need fixing spray to bring out the colour as they are already incredible when applied dry! I only wish there were more shimmers in the palette but that’s due to personal preference.
The colours are versatile and can be used to create loads of looks and match perfectly with the original palette.
This palette is a bargain for £10! It’s also cruelty free and suitable for Vegans.
One of my favourite Youtubers Sophdoesnails has recently collaborated with Makeup Revolution to create two stunning palettes, one eyeshadow and one highlighter. It is not limited edition but they have been selling out fast on the Superdrug website. I managed to get both so stay tuned for the highlighter review with swatches.
The packaging is a matte peachy pink colour with rose gold embossed writing and paint splats, Soph designed it all herself and went for a watercolour theme. It definitely stands out against the other Makeup Revolution palettes.
There are 24 shades to choose from with a mixture of mattes and shimmers, as you can see there’s a wide selection for all occasions. I absolutely love the colours available and constantly use shimmer shades.
I’m not the best at swatches but I’ve included some of my favourite shimmer and matte shades, the swatches don’t do them much justice as they are extremely pigmented. I absolutely love the shades Festive Flame and Copper Coin its great shades for Autumn.
The mattes are so pigmented and easy to blend, Soph wanted her palette to appeal to all audiences and skin tones not just for fair skin tones like herself.
At just £10 you get a large mirror, 24 shades and a palette that’s great for all occasions!
Available at Superdrug, Tam Beauty and coming soon to Ulta
Introducing the I Heart Makeup I Heart Chocolate Pink Fizz palette (what a mouthful!). As you may know I Heart Makeup brand is the sister company to Makeup Revolution who I absolutely love so and as a first timer to I Heart Makeup I thought I’d give the Pink Fizz palette a try.
The packaging is quite cute and looks like a half melted chocolate bar and it is said that the I Heart Chocolate palettes are a dupe for the Too Faced Chocolate Bars as well.
There are 16 shades included, 3 matter and 13 shimmery as well as the long eye shadow applicator but personally I prefer brushes. I have found that the shimmery pinks such as Party and Rosy needed quite a bit of build up but if you have a eye primer on hand then you may not have this problem.
I’ve included one swatch photo of the middle row purely because its my preferred colours and im also really bad at photos when it comes to light shades!
I like this palette but I prefer the offerings of Makeup Revolution and will probably stick to them in the future as I cant resist their 32 shade palettes!
Have you tried any of the I Heart Chocolate palettes?
The Nudes by Maybelline is a 12 shade palette and was released before The Blushed Nudes which you may have read on my previous post but if not catch it here (Maybelline: The Blushed Nudes Edition). Just like its partner it comes in sleek packaging with an open window showcasing the shades.
Although I prefer the pink packaging of The Blushed Nudes, I do think that the black stands out for the classic nude shades housed inside. Although the majority of the shades are shimmery there are also a few mattes.
This palette allows you to create great smokey eyes as well as simply keeping your eyes natural if you want to go for bold lips. I love the pigmentation Maybelline offers without the use of eye primers, the colours are easy to blend and last quite well.
Although again it isn’t the greatest photo to go by I have tried to include some swatches so you can gather some idea as to how the shades look, but believe me they are a lot nicer in person!
The price of this palette retails at £9.99 but quite often enough you can find it on offer, especially in Asda! Seems random I know but they tend to have a variety of offers on their stands, currently you can get the Super Stay (Better Skin) foundation for £6 so it might be worth given them a browse.
As you may have seen from a previous post I absolutely love Maybelline so when I saw their latest Nudes palette I simply had to get it. This palette is different to your everyday nudes collection you may have, its ‘blushed’ so comes in a great array of pinks and peaches rather than your normal brown/bronze shades.
One of the things I love about this product is its girly packaging, I love the metallic pink case its housed in, the other Nudes palette they have comes in your standard black packaging.
You get 12 gorgeous shades which are all shimmery, this is my favourite palette at the moment and costs only £9.99. I don’t use eye primers but have found that these eye shadows last brilliantly throughout the day and they also blend well together.
I don’t use the brush which is provided as I prefer to use a No7 eye brush I received in a free gift promotion they had at Christmas….
I’ve tried my best to swatch these for you, apologies if the quality isn’t the best I’ve never actually done it before and only have access to an Iphone camera. The first shade I did swatch is rather pale so you may not notice it.
As you can see there’s some lovely shades ranging from light to dark, I particularly love the peachy bronze shades and the pale pinks. I haven’t actually used all of the shades myself so I cant wait to see what different looks come out of them.
The palette is great for the daytime and with different shades to mix and match you cant really go wrong.
For me this set is definitely a stand out product and teamed with their Lash Sensational Mascara makes the perfect eye look.
