A Yankee Candle Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching with only 20 days to go and what better time is there to light festive scented candles.

I absolutely love Yankee Candles from the jars to the tea lights and everything in between! The Christmas scents are one of my favourites so today’s post is dedicated to a selection of Festive votives.

My all time favourite has to be Snowflake Cookie with Sparkling Cinnamon a close second, who doesn’t love the smell of cinnamon right?

There’s so many more scents you can get in different varieties and they make great stocking fillers for friends and family.

The Simply Home version of Yankee are from Asda and they still smell just as great they just aren’t the ‘original’ ones. Votives are a great way to sample scents without purchasing the jars first!

Merry Christmas!

Makeup Revolution Vampire Night Lip Kit

It’s almost Halloween and to celebrate Makeup Revolution have brought out some new ‘spooky’ products including the Vampire Night matte lip kit and Ghostly highlighters.

Makeup Revolution Vampire Night
The box design is no different to the usual lip kits launched earlier this year, I’m slightly disappointed the lips don’t feature vampire teeth to add that special Halloween touch.

Deep reds are such great colours for Autumn so I was excited to try this out. I have two other lip kits from MUR which I have reviewed here. Unfortunately the lip liner doesn’t fully match and is more pinky toned than the actual liquid lipstick so on application you can see the difference.

MUR Vampire Night Swatch
The liquid lipstick is a very good match to the box image which I know MUR have had problems in the past with incorrect shade images. Compared to previous kits I felt the lip liner wasn’t as creamy and felt more difficult to apply as it felt sharper.

If you’ve visited my blog before then you’ll know I absolutely love MUR but this lip kit just wasn’t my favourite. The liquid lipstick formula is not the same as previous kits and felt quite flaky to wipe away and didn’t feel as comfortable on the lips and personally I’d rather the lip liner was a matching shade.

For £6 you get a great vampy shade but it isn’t the best lip kit around.

Have you tried Vampire Night?

Wonder Woman Wonder Lipstick

Welcome back to the final instalment of the Wonder Woman lipstick mini series, these lipsticks were part of the Wilkinson Sword razor campaign to celebrate the release of the new Wonder Woman film.

Wonder Woman Wonder Lipstick

Wonder is the shade I was absolutely dying to get my hands on out of the four piece collection, unfortunately I only managed to get three of the shades so my collection isn’t complete!

Wonder Woman Wonder Swatch

Wonder is a stunning pink nude shade and I absolutely love any kind of nude lipstick so I had to get my hands on this one.  Sorry for the picture being not very good but I assure you it is an amazing colour. I believe the promotion is still running so I’d definitely recommend grabbing this shade if you can.

Wonder Woman Lipsticks

This is my mini collection and as you can see there’s different shades to cater to each individual taste, we have the deep red shade Wisdom and Power is a classic red.

I love these lipsticks, the shades are pigmented and they aren’t drying at all which is always a bonus and cruelty free!

Superdrug Coconut Water Hydrate & Shine Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Today’s post focusses on yet another Superdrug product, I know I’m sorry but I really do love their own brand! Not only are they affordable but they are also cruelty free whilst being suitable for Vegans and Vegetarians.

A firm favourite of mine lately is the Coconut Water shampoo and conditioner and if you follow my blog then you’ll know I purchased the hair masque in this range quite a while ago.

Superdrug Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner

First of all this range smells amazing! It has a lovely tropical scent which isn’t overpowering. The shampoo and conditioner are recommended for normal, dry or damaged and claims to hydrate it whilst leaving hair looking all fab and shiny. My hair I’d say is normal but with dry ends and some frizz.

After using this product religiously I can tell you my hair is always left feeling incredibly soft, I would say as well that it looks shiny but it’s not overly glossy and it reduces the frizz which we all know is a massive bonus.

It’s also really easy to wash out, I know that sounds silly but some shampoos I’ve tried in the past have just felt oily and take time to remove fully. A little really does go a long way and with the bottles being 400ml each they will last a long time.

All the items in this range cost £3.99 and are currently on offer 2 for £6.

Superdrug Refreshing Hydrogel Eye Patches

Feeling rough and need a quick way to refresh your under eyes? If you suffer with puffy eyes and dark circles then this might be the product for you!

Superdrug Hydogel Eye Patches
Within 15 minutes these hydrogel patches will stimulate the skin with sea algae and caffeine making you feel more awake, refreshed and your under eye area will be moisturised in order to hide fatigue and puffiness.

Superdrug Refreshing Hydrogel Eye Patches
To use the patches you simply take them out of the casing, peel back the one side whilst positioning on the under eye and then removing the final piece of backing to fully reveal the gel patch.
Whilst I don’t tend to suffer with puffiness I do get dark circles and find that after using these patches for 15 minutes my skin does look much brighter and feels slightly tighter.

A top tip on the sachet is to keep them in the fridge before use.

You get one set per sachet and they can only be used once but cost just £1.49.

As always Superdrug products are cruelty free and suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Superdrug Pick & Mix Instant Colour Sprays

Get festival ready with the Pick & Mix Instant colour sprays by Superdrug. Fancy something that lasts longer? Then why not pick a shade from the permenant and semi-permanent collection.

Superdrug Colour Sprays Pick & Mix
As part of the Superdrug Blog Squad I was kindly sent three of the sprays to test and as always an honest review will be given.

I’ll start with the my least favourite of the bunch and that is the grey colour, I really wanted to like this but on my gingery brown hair it just didn’t turn out very well.

Superdrug Pick & Mix Grey Spray
The left photo shows what it’s like with a thin layer of the product and the right is a build up of the product and as you can see from my top it goes everywhere! I feel this shade would work much better in blonde hair or in small areas of dark hair.

Superdrug Pick & Mix Blue and Purple Spray

I got on so much better with the blue and purple shade which I think look stunning when layered together, if you have long hair like me though you will need quite a few cans to cover your hair entirely.  These colours would be great for Mermaid/unicorn hair!

In order to set the colours you will need to use hairspray and to remove the colour you can brush it out or wash it away.

Please not the bright colours (blue and purple) will stain your hands but easily washes off.

There are more colours in the range and would be great for parties and festivals!

L’Oréal Paradise Extactic Mascara

The latest mascara to launch from L’Oréal Paris is the Paradise Extactic (UK) or in other parts of the world it’s called the Lash Paradise mascara.

It’s believed to be a dupe of the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara as both brushes are the same shape and have metallic packaging. I have never tried Too Faced so I can’t comment further on the similarities.

L'Oreal Paradise Extactic Mascara
This is my first experience with a L’Oréal make up product and upon first use I was very impressed with this mascara!

It claims to create intense volume, spectacular long lashes and it’s a pleasure to apply.  Now whilst I can fully agree with the first two statements I don’t really see how the application experience differs to any other mascara’s I’ve tried…

L'Oreal Paradise Extactic Brush
The brush is quite big, has Ricinus oil and is bristles rather than having a plastic applicator. Whilst it’s great on top lashes I’m not so sure on the ease of lower lash application as it might be too large for that area and I don’t apply mascara there anyway so I haven’t tested it.

What I have noticed is the mascara is smaller than other Drugstore ones with 6.4ml in the tube. The Revlon collection of mascara’s contain 8.5ml and the No7 Velvet Lash holds 7ml.

Overall I love using this mascara, it makes my lashes look great, creates separated lashes with lots of volume and doesn’t look clumpy!

Current introductory price £8.99, full price £11.99

Superdrug Pick & Mix Rose Gold Hair Dye Review

Rose gold and pastel colours is a trend that’s here to stay and Superdrug has taken this on board to create a new range of hair products. The Pick & Mix features semi-permanent and permanent dyes as well as hair chalk sprays in a range of fabulous colours.

As part of a small blog squad team for Superdrug I was kindly sent the permanent Rose Gold hair dye to try out. The box colour is a beautiful ‘candy floss’ style pink which I feel if you have blonde hair then you will be able to achieve this. I had brown hair with dark blonde highlights so I didn’t really expect the colour to take to my hair and to my surprise I was left with a nice darker pink colour!

I didn’t read the box properly (rookie mistake) so I didn’t read that the dye contains hydrogen peroxide so some of my brown roots also went a pinky colour but I honestly didn’t mind this. I only used one box so if you have brown hair you can still achieve a pink look but it may take a couple of boxes to completely cover your hair.

Superdrug Pick & Mix Dye

I like this dye and I would recommend trying the range if you fancy a new hair colour, however, I did find in comparison to some other brands that this one did have a strong scent but that could have been the bleach!

A day after dying my hair it went a lighter peachy colour which was lovely and actually inspired me to try the Copper Gold colour from the collection. I’ll do another blog post for that dye but again it had peroxide in it and now my brown roots are all gone!

Unfortunately I can’t remember the exact price but it was around £3.50 and as usual with Superdrug it is 100% cruelty free and suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
